Hawkings first step a success

World-famous physicist Stephen Hawking experienced weightlessness on April 26th, 2007 on an airline flight hosted by Zero Gravity Corp at the Kennedy Space Center.

The flight was considered a successful test and his first step in his attempt to visit space before dies. His flight is scheduled for possible date aboard a Virgin commercial space flight in 2009.

After the flight, Hawking told reporters, "Space, here I come."

Hawking has a degenerative nerve disease known as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. He is almost completely paralyzed and can communicate only via facial gestures and a gesture-controlled computer system.

He has currently lived longer than nearly anyone has expected for someone with his disease. Originally he almost gave up on getting his PhD because he was not expected to live long enough to get it. Here he is now at 65 years old and still alive.

I hope he gets his chance to visit space.
