Bush and the big three auto companies have been promoting ethanol cars as protecting the environment, but it turns out it is hurting the envirement.
Auto makers need to be fuel economy standards averaged across their entire fleet. If one car gets good mileage, then another can have bad. The problem arises in the Bush declared mixed fuel ethanol cars are counted as running 50% ethanol, while only 1% of cars actually can run that.
So with the law Bush just signed, claiming it helps the environment, actually it burns an additional 4 billion gallons of gas each year.
So of course the big three US automakers like it, as it helps save them from auto makers such as Toyota who actually are helping the environment.
